Pacific Luxury Living | 29 Featured Properties Long & Associates Architects ~ This master bath was custom designed for a Japanese client living on Oahu’s North Shore. Facing Alligator’s Surf Break, the aptly named Alligator house was all about being as connected to the ocean as possible. A furo tub provided the focus of this space - a place to relax and soak while taking in the stunning ocean views, which were multiplied by two mounted mirrors. This “zen zone” as they call it, is connected to the master bedroom with the same view and surrounded by heavy duty sliders with no screens, so the homeowner can truly be immersed in nature. The glass enclosed shower and tub space was designed to be entirely water friendly and worry free. Lagos Blue Limestone, which lacks a polish finish so as not to attract hard water stain or hard water deposit, laid the foundation for a wet space. The furo tub has a waterfall edge, allowing water to sheet and spill over into the shower. “This was about the Japanese lifestyle of being one with water, both in cleansing and in soaking,” said Jeffrey Long. There aren’t any extravagant jets, or accoutrements - why take away from the natural view? It’s simply a high-end relaxing space where the homeowner can wake up to the day and say good night to the ocean, while soaking his worries away. (See Page 38)
